There are some sessions where you can just feel God’s hand in every minute, and Alexis & Terrance’s engagement photos at Mercer Botanical Gardens in Houston were exactly that kind of morning.
We arrived with the forecast threatening rain, umbrellas ready, and all of us quietly praying the clouds would hold off long enough for us to create something beautiful. And honestly… the way the morning unfolded felt like such a sweet reminder that God is in the details.
When we started shooting, we had the lightest drizzle, just enough to feel it on our skin, not enough to stop us. But instead of letting it throw off the mood, Alexis and Terrance just laughed, held onto each other, and trusted that the day would be exactly what it needed to be.
And it was.
The rain slowed…
the clouds softened…
and suddenly, we had this perfect pocket of gentle sunshine breaking through the trees.
It felt like a tiny answered prayer.
One thing I love about Alexis & Terrance is how playful and silly they are together. They’re the kind of couple who can’t help but smile around each other, who laugh, tease, and lean into every moment with such ease. Photographing them felt effortless, like watching two best friends genuinely enjoy each other’s presence.
Mercer Botanical Gardens gave us everything:
lush greenery, pops of flowers, winding paths, and soft light filtering through the tall trees. Every corner felt peaceful, almost sacred.
And the best part?
At the end of the session, they asked if we could sit down together for a little Bible study.
My heart.
Truly.
We found a quiet spot surrounded by trees, opened the Word, and just sat in the stillness for a moment, letting God be part of the day in the most natural way. It was gentle and grounding and so incredibly beautiful.
Afterward, they popped champagne to celebrate the season they’re stepping into, and I swear the sun hit them perfectly in that moment, like a little blessing whispered over their engagement.
